Reclamation Gardens
Rooting For Parrish, AL a film from the American Geophysical Union and The Thriving Earth Exchange
Reclamation Gardens is an initiative dedicated to transforming unused land in Parrish, AL into vibrant spaces that nourish the body, spark creativity, and strengthen our community.
We do this work in two ways, by cultivating our Community Garden at the historic Parrish Town Hall site, AND by working transform the historic Parrish High School football field (at the end of 4th Street) into a community learning Farm meant to reconnect people with the land while building resilient food infrastructure.
The Community Garden
The Community Garden is located near 24 Bank Street Parrish, AL 35580 on the Historic Parrish Town Hall property. This initiative works to connect our neighbors and community to the land, their food, and each other by fostering a space for learning and community. The Community Garden features 16 raised Garden beds, an outdoor classroom, shaded seating, and playground amenities. This is where the majority of our events take place (Such as our annual Sunflower Summer and Yam-boree events), as well as current learning opportunities.
The 2026 growing season is fast approaching!
Raised Garden beds are available on a first come, first served basis by any community member, family, organization, or school group in Parrish, AL or its surrounding communities. If your application is accepted there is a $25 fully refundable deposit that covers the costs of keys needed to access the community tool box and water source. This deposit will be refunded in the Fall after the gardener returns their keys!
If you, your family, or your group are interested in gardening or learning to garden in 2026 alongside other rad folks then be sure to pick up an application at Parrish Town Hall, OR feel one out online with the button below or here: https://tinyurl.com/RGardenApp

The Farm
We believe in the power of land to heal, connect, and nourish. Thatβs why weβre working to transform the historic Parrish High School football field at the end of 4th Street into a community learning farm and resilient food system. This Farm will be a space where neighbors can come together to grow food, share knowledge, and build lasting connections.
This farm is not just about growing food, but about reclaiming our connection with the land and fostering a culture of self-sufficiency, sustainability, and mutual care. Our goal is to ensure that no one in our community faces the malady of hunger, while also nurturing a deeper relationship to the land that sustains us.
What Weβre Doing
Restoring and Transforming the Land: By revitalizing the old football field and repairing the damage left from years of neglect and failing infrastructure, we are creating an community farm space that serves as a hub for community engagement, education, and food production.
A Resilient Food System: The farm will provide fresh, locally grown produce for our community, especially those who face food insecurity. We are committed to growing food that nourishes and supports the long-term health of our community and the environment.
Learning and Connection: The farm will be a place for education and hands-on learningβoffering workshops, classes, and volunteer opportunities that teach sustainable farming practices, food justice, and the importance of reconnecting with the land.
Weβre proud to partner with the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and Thriving Earth Exchange to support the Reclamation Gardenβs Farm initiative. Through Thriving Earth Exchange, scientists and community leaders are collaborating with Jubilee House to restore the land, build soil health, and design a resilient, community-centered food system. βHospitality is the fundamental virtue of the soil. It makes room. It shares. It neutralizes poisons. And so it heals. This is what the soil teaches: If you want to be remembered, give yourself away.β
